About Me
Patricia Mooney has been VP at San Diego's longest-serving video production company, Crystal Pyramid Productions since 1982. She serves as a Producer, Writer, Editor, Camera Operator, Teleprompter Operator and Sound Technician. She and her husband, Mark Schulze, decided to produce a video about cannabis to help eradicate stigma and bring medicine to people who need it, particularly seniors.
Patricia's role as co-producer, writer and editor on "Nectarball: The Story of Cannabis" was pivotal in realizing this complex project. The documentary explores the intricate history of cannabis, its history, cultural significance, medicinal and industrial capabilities and its potential to shape the future.
The film required extensive research, a deep understanding of the subject matter, and seven years of traveling around the world seeking wisdom from cannabis luminaries including Tommy Chong, Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, Nurse Heather Sobel, Keiko Beatie, John Salley and dozens more. Along with her husband, Mark Schulze, Mooney traveled from Hollywood to Humboldt, from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia (Uruguay), from Amsterdam to Cape Town (South Africa).
Patty's editing capabilities came to the fore as she expertly wove together a tapestry of stories, opinions, and insights in a remarkable feat of storytelling.
As former NBA champion and wellness entrepreneur said following the film's world premiere, "You did a great job! You guys did a wonderful job. It looked great and you got the point across. I love that this movie was so great. Even the music. I gotta give it to you, Patty, you're a hell of an editor. I learned a lot."
Ken Sobel, Esquire, the attorney who successfully argued for cannabis for veterans suffering from PTSD in Arizona, said: "This really was an amazing production, the highest production quality. It should win an Academy Award. You guys did a fabulous job writing it, producing it, directing it, everything. Yeah. I was stoked. It was great. It's vital what you guys have done."
And this from The Green Nurse, Sherri Mack, RN: "The movie was absolutely amazing. To hear so much passion from so many different people and the stories and how everyone came together and I loved how you were able to show the nursing journey in the cannabis space. And how you come full circle of bringing all people together to do the right thing for the right reasons to elevate the plant. I was truly moved. I had tears in my eyes multiple times and I'm honored that I was able to be a part of this amazing world premiere truly. What would cannabis say? Cannabis would be so thrilled with this film. Cannabis would say there needs to be much more Nectarball productions."
Beyond her role as a co-producer, Patricia Mooney is known for her ability to connect with people on a personal level. She approaches each project with empathy and an open heart, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among the team.see less
