About Me
In 1971, my two-part series "How to Grow Cannabis in your New York City Apartment" appeared in the NY Flyer of Rolling Stone. That article became the basis for the first Marijuana Grower's Guide (1974). I wrote the Marijuana Grower's Guide Deluxe, published in 1978 (with a Curing chapter by Ed Rosenthal). The MGG Deluxe included the first color photomicrographs showing the degradation of resin, a primary indication of harvest timing. In 1988, I wrote and published the Marijuana Grower's Insider's Guide as growing cannabis was moving indoors due to government efforts to eradicate outdoor production.
I am the editor and Publisher (Red Eye Press) for Rob Clarke's HASHISH! 1st edition and for the undated HASHISH! 2nd edition.
I first lectured on growing marijuana in 1979 and later lectured for Oaksterdam. I provided power points and video lectures for the creation of Green Flower, the online provider of information for college courses on Cannabis knowledge.
One-person shows of my Cannabis Photography were featured both in Los Angeles and New York galleries. Many of these images can be viewed on my instagram page (melfrank420) which features 100s of my photographs from 1974 through 2021.
I have been Senior Advisor to Clade9, an indoor producer of high-quality cannabis, beginning legally in Phoenix, and currently in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.
